Following the terrible shooting at a Texas primary school, Yeezy Gap has postponed the launch of its Balenciaga collection.

On Wednesday morning, the firm put a notice on its website: “We’ve decided to postpone the debut of the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga until Friday, May 27 in light of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. As we take a breath, our thoughts turn to the families and communities affected.”

Officials claimed an 18-year-old gunman fatally shot 19 children and two adults at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday before being slain by police.

Tuesday’s incident marks the deadliest school shooting since Sandy Hook Elementary School, which killed 26 children and adults in 2012. This is at least the 30th school shooting.

The “Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga” collection was supposed to be available for purchase on Yeezygap.com and Balenciaga online partners farfetch.com, mytheresa.com, and luisaviaroma.com on Wednesday morning. Kanye West’s creative concept is combined with Demna Gvasalia, the creative director of Balenciaga, who has been designing ready-to-wear garments for the brand for six years.

In June 2020, Gap (GPS) announced a 10-year contract with Ye for the Yeezy Gap brand. The first Yeezy Gap item was a $200 jacket that sold out online almost immediately when it was released last fall. A few of the brand’s later releases, including other coats and hoodies, also sold out quickly.
