Amenfiman Rural Bank celebrates 40th Anniversary

The Amenfiman Rural Bank Limited as part of activities to commemorate its 40th anniversary has acquired a 420-acre plot of land for the construction of a University at Amenfi.

Amenfiman Rural Bank boast as the first rural bank to be established in the Western Region and the fourth in Ghana in 1980.

In a press statement released by the bank as part of activities to launch its anniversary, it said the bank, which commenced its operations at Wasa Akropong where its head office is located, was established to provide essential banking services to rural and peri-urban communities.

“Over the years, the bank has put first the demands, needs and wants of its customers to provide high-quality banking service. The bank has also not just helped its customers but has contributed towards the development of some communities.”

Activities organised to mark the anniversary celebration included a donation to the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital, as well as a clean-up and a quiz competition among 12 schools of which the winners will be competing on May 30, 2021 on the “What Do You Know” show on GTV.

Currently, the bank has 17 branches and four mobilisation centres due to its reliable banking services and provision of financial support to the people.

It has grown in size, expanded its products and services and improved from 40 years of experience.

“It is no doubt that the vision of this bank is to; consolidate and sustain leadership in rural banking and to become a point of reference in the industry which they have been able to do over the past years,” the release said.

The release said, “as part of the bank’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), it has over the years shared its gains with the communities it operates.

“This is demonstrated in areas such as health and sanitation, education, agriculture, sports, institutional and general community support. As we celebrate, we are happy to share some contributions we made to the communities we operate in,” it said.

It added that a 14-seater toilet facility had been built for students at the Asankrangwa Senior High School, while stores and laundry facilities had also been constructed to support the upkeep of Wassa Akropong Government Hospital.

“We also contributed towards the provision of potable drinking water to ten communities at Wassa Akropong, Asankragwa, Abesewa Gyaman, Nsuopon, Addamanso, Boakyekrom, Agyaful and Brepro Mfantse.

“We championed the provision of street lights to boost the lighting of our communities. Two hundred pieces of street lights were distributed to 19 communities including Nkonya, Ataasi, Prisiso, Ntwentwena, Nananko, Abreshia, Adeso, Jap, Abesewa Gyaman, Adiembra, Dompoase, Wassa Akropong, Subriso, Asikuma, Ankonsia, Adamanso, Dompim, and Bawdie,” the release said.

The bank has also provided scholarships to needy brilliant students in various educational institutions, notable among them is one who completed and is now a medical doctor.
