The price of cement bags have risen above ¢80 per bag due to the economy woes.

This is a 10% increment compared to the last price adjustment almost two months ago.

According to Joy Business, some retail dealers are selling a 50 kilo cement bag at ¢77 to ¢85. The prices are for GHACEM, Diamond and Dangote products. However, the price of Dzata cement is lower.

The increment is as a result of the depreciation of the cedi to the US dollar, which is now at $13 per cedi.

Some of the materials used in producing the cement are imported, hence the increasing cost of operations.
