‘Academy e-learning App’ crowned Winner of MTN Ayoba Hackathon 2021

The maiden edition of MTN Ayoba Hackathon 2021 ended with an innovative e-learning app called Academy crowned as the ultimate winner of the contest.

‘Academy’ designed by Prince Owusu is an app for students to take up online courses in a variety of subjects, particularly during the Covid-19 lockdown period; and get awarded with certificates online when they pass the courses.

Prince beat four other competitors and walked away with the GHC20,000 ultimate cash prize, a plaque, a certificate and a rare opportunity to work with the MTN app development team at MTN Digital Campus.

These are the winners for the MTN Ayoba Hackaton 2021:

Prince Owusu (Academy app) – Winner – GHS 20,000 cash prize + Certificate + Souvenirs
Amaylia app – 1st runner up – GHS 10,000 cash prize + Certificate + Souvenirs
Stride app – 2nd runner up – GHS 8,000 cash prize + Certificate + Souvenirs

However, the Academy App is to be featured on the Ayoba platform, so it can be available to a wider public, both in Ghana and elsewhere within Africa.

Team Ameylia

First runner-up, Ameylia App was designed by Edward Morgan and Pierre Barrad-Amoyaw. It is an app that enables easy crowdsourcing for individuals who need a number of services within a particular locality. They took home GHC10,000 cash prize.

Team Stride

The Second runner-up, Stride, an online logistics app that connects online retailers and businesses to courier service providers for prompt deliveries to customers. The app gives small online and offline businesses access to various delivery companies and service providers and monitors the process to ensure the services is delivered in a professional manner.

The app was developed by a team of four – Emmanuel Fache, Eyram Amedzor, Amanda Dzegblor and Vanessa Leonie-Mensah, whom took home GHC8,000 for their effort.
