Nigerian government has suspended, indefinitely popular social media network, Twitter after it deleted tweets of their President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Muhammadu Buhari tweets was duly deleted after it was found for breaching the site’s rules. The government announced on Friday, June 4 it was suspending Twitter’s operations in the country.
Mobile phone networks services have also blocked access to the site after being ordered to do so, however some citizens have found a way to access the platform by way of VPN of other means.
Government after it noticed that some users have found a way around the ban has ordered Security service to prosecute anyone found to have breached the country’s ban on the social media firm Twitter.
The Federal Government has suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.

Twitter in response to the Government ban expressed their displeasure and pledge to restore access for its users in Nigeria.
They wrote, “We are deeply concerned by the blocking of Twitter in Nigeria. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society.
We will work to restore access for all those in Nigeria who rely on Twitter to communicate and connect with the world. #KeepitOn”
