Reddit today officially unveiled its Clubhouse clone live audio room tagged, Reddit Talk following a recent report.
Based on Reddit’s description and images shared by the company, Reddit Talk appears to look a lot like Clubhouse, Twitter Spaces, and other social audio products.
According to Reddit, once a talk is live, any redditor can join the room to listen in and react with emojis. Listeners can also raise their hand for the host to invite them to speak.
In addition, Reddit announced that hosts can invite, mute, and remove speakers during a talk and can also remove unwanted users from the talk entirely and prevent them from rejoining.
Reddit announced that it is testing ways for hosts to customize the look and feel of Reddit Talk through emojis and background colors.
Moderation has been an issue for Clubhouse, so it’s notable that Reddit is starting small and giving access only to moderators first. At some point in the future, mods will be able to bring on trusted community members as co-hosts.
Reddit joins Twitter, Slack, Discord, LinkedIn, and Spotify in announcing a social audio feature.
