How To Apply for University For Development Studies Admission 2023/2024 [Postgraduate]

All postgraduate (Ghanaian or Foreign) who want to be enrolled as Students of the University For Development Studies during the 2023/2024 Academic year can now do so.

Kindly follow the Steps on How to Apply for University For Development Studies Admission 2023/2024. To be an eligible applicant, one must meet some basic requirements.

However, before you apply, you should check out the University For Development Studies and Requirements.

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

All applicants to our full-time and sandwich graduate programmes are required to pass a selection interview to be conducted by the relevant Department of the University.

Applicants applying for research related programmes (M.Sc. by research/M.Phil./MPH/Ph.D.) should include a short research proposal.

The minimum requirements for admission are:

For PG.D./M.A./M.Sc./M.Phil. programmes:

  • Applicants must possess a good Bachelor’s degree in a related field from any approved / recognized University or Institution.
  • Applicants with a Second Class (Lower division) are eligible to apply. Candidates with Third Class or Pass are strongly advised not to apply.

For PhD programmes:

  • An MPhil./MSc. Degree by research from any approved/recognized University or Institution.

How to Apply (Postgraduate Applicants)

All Ghanaian applicants for the 2023/2024 Academic Year admissions are required to use the UDS online application portal. The procedure for the online application process is as follows:

  1. Make a payment of GH¢ 250.00 (Two Hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis) for the UDS Postgraduate E-Voucher at any Stanbic Bank, GCB Bank, Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), National Investment Bank (NIB), Prudential Bank,  Zenith Bank and Ecobank branches throughout the country.
  2. OR
  3. Visit UDS online payment portal at www.pay.uds.edu.gh with a Master Card or Visa Card to make an online payment of GHC250.00 (Two Hundred Ghana Cedis) for the postgraduate e-Voucher. Print the advice slip for future reference.
  4. The E-Voucher contains the PIN, and Serial Number required for the completion of the online form.
  5. Access the online form by visiting our online admissions portal at www.admissions.uds.edu.gh soon after payment.
  6. In completing the online form, applicants will be required to upload their most recent passport size photographs with white background and relevant certificates. Applicants who use objects instead of their own photographs would be disqualified.
  7. A completed form will not be considered for admission unless it is SUBMITTED after accepting our Data Confirmation Policy
  8. Applicants are advised to check thoroughly all details entered before finally submitting their online applications. A form, once submitted, can only be viewed, but cannot be edited.
  9. Three reference letters are required (at least, two of the referees should be familiar with applicants’ academic work) before a candidate’s admission can be processed. Applicants are therefore urged to impress upon their referees to check their e-mails and follow instructions given to submit the reference letters online.
  10. Candidates are strongly advised to visit any EMS Office in the Country for assistance towards the return of the application documents (see viii). Applicants are advised not to post the forms themselves. They should seek the advice and services of Ghana Post EMS.
  11. Applicants must print out application summary; attach results slips, certificates and all other relevant documents. These documents should be submitted in triplicates (three copies each) to the Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs Section).
  12. The application documents as specified in (vii) above should be addressed to:

MODE OF APPLICATION FOR FOREIGN APPLICANTS

All non-Ghanaian applicants are advised to apply as follows:

  1. Visit UDS online payment portal at pay.uds.edu.gh with a Master Card or Visa Card to make an online payment of $150.00 (One Hundred US Dollars) for the foreign postgraduate e-Voucher
  2. Print the advice slip for future reference
  3. Access the online form by visiting our admissions portal at www.admissions.uds.edu.gh soon after payment.
  4. In completing the online form, applicants will be required to upload their passport size photographs and certificates
  5. A completed form is not considered until it is SUBMITTED
  6. Applicants are advised to check thoroughly all details entered before they finally submit their online applications. A form, once submitted, can only be viewed, but cannot be edited
  7. Three reference letters are required (at least, two of the referees should be familiar with applicants’ academic work) before a candidate’s admission can be processed. The MSc/MPhil. PHN programme aims to produce a cadre of practitioners and health professionals for teaching and research in academic institutions and for positions of professional leadership in health and health-related agencies where research is an important function. The MSc/MPhil. PHN graduates will be equipped to advocate better health through diet and nutrition, promote health and reduce the risk of diet-related diseases through educational and environmental approaches to improve nutrition and physical activity.

The MSc. programme covers 16 months duration whilst the MPhil. takes two (2) academic years to complete.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

General entry requirements

To be admitted into a programme leading to the award of a Graduate Diploma or the Masters’ degree (PG.D./M.A./M.Sc./MPhil.), a candidate must:

  • Have obtained a good first degree (at least a Second Class) in an appropriate field of study from a recognized University.
  • Submit an official transcript of academic record.
  • Submit three reference reports, one of which must be from a former Lecturer.
  • Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the Faculties/Schools.

These may include relevant work experience, a written entrance examination and an interview.

A candidate seeking admission into the Ph.D. must:

  • Have an M.Phil. or M.Sc. degree by research in an appropriate field of study from a recognized University.
  • Submit an official transcript of academic record.
  • Submit three reference reports, one of which must be from any Senior Member of the applicant’s former University who has taught the candidate before.
  • Submit a proposal of 3-5 pages of intended area of study including a working bibliography.
  • Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the Department/Faculty.

Intake levels shall be influenced by the availability of supervisors for the students’ interest area and field of study.
