Government declares 3rd May, 2021 As Public Holiday

The Government of Ghana in a press statement issued by the Ministry of Interior has announced Monday, the 3rd of May, 2021 as a Public Holiday.

This is because the 1st May, 2021 which commemorates May Day (Workers’ Day) falls of a weekend hence, Gov’t decision to extend the statutory public Holiday to Monday which should be observed accordingly.

“The general public is hereby notified that Saturday, 1st May, 2021 marks May Day (Workers’ Day) which is a Statutory Public Holiday.

However, in view of the fact that 1st May, 2021 falls on a Saturday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601) declared Monday, 3rd May, 2021 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”
