Twitter has announced that it will be removing verification checkmarks from ‘Legacy’ account (previously verified due to notability) effective April 1, 2023.
This comes after the CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk said the old verification system was outdated and inconsistent.
According to Twitter the new $8 Dollar Blue subscription will give users more control over their verification status and how it appears on their profile.
Therefore, the company is encouraging users to sign up for Twitter Blue which it just launched worldwide.
Twitter Blue requires users to apply for verification through a form on the Twitter website or app.
Users have to provide some basic information about themselves, such as their name, location, and category of interest. They also have to prove their identity by uploading a photo of their ID card or passport.
Aside the Twitter Blue verification, organizations can also request verification at a rate of $1,000/month. Organizations will be given a new tool to manage their profile and add accounts affiliated with their organization.
