Twitter announced the relaunch of Twitter Blue after halting subscription services due to impersonation issues.
The new Twitter Blue membership subscription will cost users $8 per month on the web and $11 per month on the iOS App Store.
Twitter Blue users who want verification checkmark on their profile will have to verify with their phone number.
In regard to the verification, Twitter says Gold, Gray and Blue checkmark will be displayed on profiles of Twitter users.
Gold, Grey and Blue: What It Means
The verification colours are to help users differentiate between different types of accounts and prevent impersonation; but what does the colours mean?
- Gold checkmarks will be issued to Verified companies or official business accounts on Twitter next to their profiles
- Grey checkmarks will be displayed on Twitter accounts owned by verified government profiles or accounts linked with the government
- Blue checkmarks will be displayed on individual Twitter Blue subscribers and other verified accounts.
Twitter says subscribers will now be able to change their handle, display name or profile photo, but will temporarily lose the blue checkmark until their account is reviewed.
